Dawn Scott was a Jamaican artist whose creative spirit knew no bounds, although she exhibited professionally, her art was not confined to museums and galleries, instead her work can be found throughout all walks of life in restaurants, shops, offices and tourist resorts. She is best known for her ground-breaking and highly influential mixed media installation "A Cultural Object" (Collection: National Gallery of Jamaica). She has also produced figurative batik paintings that depict Jamaican life and people with a unique blend of poetry and realism.
The character "Bernadette" is inspired by Writer/Director Max-Arthur Mantle's childhood friend and neighbor, Bernadene Lebert who was shot and killed at age 43 by her husband in Georgia in 2015. The murderer was sentence to life in prison without parole in 2019.
